In an article published recently in the Journal of Criminal Justice (Steiner and Schwartz, 2006) the School of Criminal Justice at FIU ranked 13th nationally in average publications per faculty member between 2000 and 2004. When the publications were weighted by equally dividing each article among the number of authors, FIU's School of Criminal Justice ranked 10th nationally. The journals used in this study for ranking purposes were Criminology, Justice Quarterly, Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology, Journal of Criminal Justice, Criminal Justice and Behavior, Journal of Quantitative Criminology, Journal of Research in Crime and Delinquency, and Crime and Delinquency. These journals are considered the leading journals in criminology and criminal justice.
