Master of Public Administration
General
Requirements: The Master of Public Administration (MPA) program requires a minimum of 42
credit hours. Students entering the MPA program with a Bachelor of Public
Administration from a public university in the State of Florida will be waived
from taking six elective credits. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA.
MPA Core Requirements: The MPA core consists of 33

Electives (9 credits): Students may specialize in Human Resources Management, Public Management, or
an Outside Field. NOTE: Students must have a “C” or better in all courses; a
“C-“ is not acceptable.
*Students entering the MPA program with a Bachelor of Public Administration
from a public university in the State of Florida will be waived from taking
six elective credits. Core level waivers may be approved by the Public
Administration Director.
Forgiveness Policy:
Graduate students may repeat no more than two courses for the purpose of
raising their overall grade point average (GPA), and no course may be
repeated more than once. Students are responsible for submitting course
repeat forms for the Forgiveness Policy to be applied. (See the FIU Graduate
