PAD 6946 Public Administration Internship
Internship
Eligibility
-
You must be
admitted to the Master of
Public Administration program.

You must be
in good academic standing (minimum 3.0 overall GPA).
-
The
internship is recommended for students with limited
or no experience in the public sector.
Internship
Application Process
-
The
internship application must be submitted to the
advisor by the sixth week of the term prior to the
start of the internship. Please note that federal
and state internships require at least two semesters
for approval.

Download the
internship application
or pick up a hard
copy of the application at the University Park
Campus in PCA 257.

Call
305-348-5890
and schedule an internship advising appointment with
a graduate advisor.

Bring your
completed internship application with a copy of your
unofficial transcript to the scheduled appointment with
the advisor. The advisor will accept your
application after you have discussed your internship
preferences and the information on your application.

Once you have
been placed, you will receive a letter confirming
your placement and giving you further instructions.
Internship
Requirements
You will be given
a course syllabus during the mandatory internship
orientation that will detail the requirements of PAD
6964 (internship course).

The following is a
summary of the key requirements:

Internship
Hours: You
will be required to work a specific number of hours per
week at your assigned agency.

3 credits =
10 hours per week
-
6 credits =
20 hours per week
-
Weekly Logs:
You will be required to prepare logs which describe your
specific experiences in the field. The weekly logs must
be at least two pages in length.

Term Paper:
You are expected to select a topic that summarizes your
overall learning experience. The length of the paper
must be at least 20 pages.
