I am studying at a
community college, when should I apply to FIU?
You should submit your application
two semesters before you plan to start at FIU. For example, if you plan to start
in the fall, you should submit your application in the Spring semester. This
will allow ample time to process your application and make arrangements to
attend transfer orientation. Information on transfer orientation can be found
at:
http://www.fiu.edu/~orient
What are the
prerequisites for the Social Work program?
-A course in each of the
following:

Do I have to finish
all my prerequisites before I start the Social Work program?
In order to be admitted in to the BSSW program, you must have at least a 2.5 gpa
and satisfied all of the requirements for the CLAST exam. It is not necessary
to have all of your prerequisites done. You can complete any remaining
prerequisites while concurrently starting upper division courses. However, you
must check the course catalog to ensure that you have the proper prerequisites
for each course.
Do I need to submit a
separate application to the department?
Students only need to apply to FIU-no separate application to the department is
necessary.

Newly admitted transfer students are required to attend Transfer Orientation the

campus services and university policies, receive their ID card, and tour the
